Job Creation, A Small Business Owner's Idea

Letter to Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers:

Cathy,

Thank you for representing us so well. We met briefly at a Lincoln Day dinner in Walla Walla and talked about my trip to Boston in the days just prior to Scott Brown's election.

I have been a small business owner for 35 years, have a Bachelors of Business Administration with an accounting major.

I have an idea to stimulate job growth. The target audience is other small business owners, who both sides of the aisle agree are the best engine for job growth.

I think Congress should consider a regressive tax for closely held owners of small business corporations and for sole proprietors. Instead of taxing business owners more for each additional $ they earn, tax them less. Reward small business owners for growing their businesses.

The tax credit would only apply to increased income above the average of the three prior years reported income. Congress could approve a lower tax; say 10% for the increased reported incomes. The present tax rate would apply for the income average reported previously. Therefore there would be no reduction in tax revenue on existing earnings, simply a lower tax on additional earnings, giving small business owners motivation to grow their businesses because they would keep more, not less, of the additional growth income.

The treasury would benefit from the increased tax revenue generated from the business growth and additional jobs would be created by the need from these growing small businesses.

No revenue shortfall to stimulate the economy, simply motivation for small business owners to enjoy capitalism at its best and make as much money as they can.

Respectfully,

Evan Hecht

Trump Could tip the Senate GOP in 2012

Obama will be very difficult to beat in 2012 with a traditional GOP candidate. His $billion war chest, the bully pulpit, and shear demographics (please don't call me a racist) may win him a second term.

Donald Trump, if he runs, has nothing to lose. He will be using other people's money to advertise his brand. We, on the other hand may have a lot to gain that I do not hear anyone talking about. A GOP majority in the Senate.

Trump is unabashedly asking questions and raising issues that would otherwise never be heard. The 2012 GOP Senate candidates will certainly benefit from Trump raising these issues without them having to.

Who knows? Maybe that has been the plan all along. I do not underestimate "The Donald". Call it sly like a fox or anything else. Donald may be the best the GOP can hope for; 2 out of 3 in 2012 is certainly better than 1 out of 3 after 2010, and 0 out of three after 2008.

Chinese Debt is a Threat to our National Security

by Evan Hecht on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 9:28am.

Donald Trump is an unlikely next President of the United States but he has been beating the danger of the Chinese drum since I heard him speak about fifteen years ago in Bakersfield, CA. That was when we owed the Chinese 4% of what we owe them today.

Why did the Soviet Union lose the Cold War? I like this person's answer: "An arms race bankrupted them. We were part of the same arms race but the Japanese, Chinese, Saudis and others kept loaning us money to spend beyond our means."

The US Department of the Treasury statistics state that the US owed China $47 Billion in April of 1998, http://www.newyorkfed.org/research/current_issues/ci4-5.pdf . The Treasury Department now says that as of April 2011 we owe China $1.154 Trillion, http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/tic/Documents/mfh.txt .

The US Bureau of Labor Staitstics said our unemployment rate in April 1998 was 4.4%. That department now says that total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force is now 16.2%, http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm .

Citizens Against Government Waste put out their now famous ad campaign, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTSQozWP-rM&feature=player_embedded .

Our big government out of control spending, if not curtailed, will be the end of The United Sates of America.
